Bell partners Openet to deploy data rating solutions

Openet, a BSS provider, has entered into a multi-year agreement with Bell, Canada’s largest telco, to deploy Openet’s Evolved Charging solution.

The new offering will give Bell enhanced real-time rating solutions and new capabilities for customer data usage tools and notifications through Openet’s library of charging micro-services and open source technology.

“We are delighted that Bell has embraced the Openet approach to Digital BSS partnerships, said Niall Norton, CEO, Openet. “Increasingly, Tier 1 operators like Bell are leveraging Openet’s micro services and adopting DevOps to quickly respond to new opportunities as their networks and services evolve.”

Using a DevOps approach, both Openet and Bell working to quickly respond to new opportunities and ensure fast and accurate development and deployment of new features and functions.

“We are very pleased to partner with Openet to develop innovative solutions that can be incorporated quickly into our wireless rating platform,” said Petri Lyytikainen, Bell’s vice president of network strategy. “Openet’s suite of micro-services will allow us to deliver an enhanced customer experience while future proofing our systems in preparation for 5G deployment.”

Last month, Openet entered into a strategic partnership with Samsung Electronics to deliver 5G core network solutions. Under the partnership the two will work together to provide 5G network functions (NFs) in the packet core software solutions.
