Czech 4G auction sparks controversy

Czech Telefónica has filed a lawsuit against the country’s regulators over its upcoming 4G auction, after criticising the body for reserving spectrum for new applicants.

The company has also challenged further conditions, but has confirmed it will be taking part in the auction of frequencies in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands.

However, national investment group PPF has told local reporters that it will not be taking part in the auction, which was cancelled and relaunched in August this year.

The Czech investment firm said today that it opposed a condition of the auction which stated that it could not merge with another auction participant for 15 years following the outcome.
