Telekom Austria Group appoints COO

The supervisory board at Telekom Austria Group (TAG) has today revealed the appointment of Alejandro Plater as chief operating officer (COO) at the company, in a “unanimous” decision.
Reporting directly to chief executive Hannes Ametsreiter, Plater will be responsible for the daily operation in technology as well as market areas and purchasing.
CTO Günther Ottendorfer steps down from his role at the company as of today, and Rudolf Kemler, chairman of the supervisory board at TAG thanked Ottendorfer for his internationally valued work at the company over the past two years.
Plater has worked in the telecoms industry for approximately 18 years and recently held positions include those as sales director for Mexico at Ericsson, and VP and key account manager for the Swedish vendor’s major customers.
“We have formed a strong management team and we are convinced this team will lead Telekom Austria Group into a prosperous future,” said Carlos Moreno, vice-chairman of the supervisory board at TAG, and CFO at America Movil.
“Alejandro Plater is an excellent manager, who has been working very closely with us in Mexico.”
Plater has been appointed for a three-year term with the option to extend it by another two years.
