NTT extends IP reach in Africa

NTT Communications has set up a partnership with pan-African terrestrial network provider Workonline Communications to provide IP network connectivity services in the region.

The move will extend NTT’s presence in the metro areas of sub-Saharan Africa as the operator targets growth in emerging markets in the region.

“We are excited to partner with Workonline Communications and help it expand its high-quality IP service portfolio available to its existing and potential customers,” said Clive Hamilton, VP of network services at NTT Europe. “This partnership also fits our strategy to take NTT Com’s global IP network into some of the fastest-growing internet markets in Africa and offer our customers more connectivity options in the region.”

The move will offer Workonline’s partners with access to global markets through NTT’s IP network. In August, Workonline also began offering remote peering services to the London Internet Exchange (LINX).

“Our goal is to provide our partners such as NTT Com with innovative and cost-effective solutions on a global scale, whilst maintaining the highest standards of design, build and deployment,” said Edward Lawrence, director of business development, Workonline Communications.
