TI Sparkle launches Stockholm PoP

Telecom Italia Sparkle has today revealed the launch of an IP PoP in Stockholm, Sweden.

The PoP is located at Telecity in Bromma, and is claimed to be the first independent carrier-neutral facility in the Swedish market.

The Nordic region is experiencing double digit growth in IP traffic, according to TI Sparkle, and the PoP is designed to address this growth; capturing the demand from major ISPs, OTTs and global content players that have already established themselves in the area.

Additionally, the PoP will provide IP connectivity to players in Russia for whom Stockholm is a key European hub.

The PoP further expands TI Sparkle’s global IP backbone in Northern Europe and is expected to improve the performance of Seabone – its global IP transit service for OTTS and content and service providers in the region.

In May this year, TI Sparkle launched a PoP in Oman in partnership with Omantel.
