Ericsson pens managed services deal with Romanian operators
Swedish vendor Ericsson today revealed a seven-year managed services contract with subsidiaries of Greece’s OTE; Romtelecom and Cosmote Romania.
The agreement will see Ericsson manage the fixed-line and mobile networks of both operators in the country and extends the Swedish vendor’s managed services footprint in Romania.
“The managed services concept represents a business model aimed at improving focus on core activities while obtaining increased cost efficiency,” said Nikolai Beckers, CEO at Romtelecom and Cosmote Romania.
“Our continuous endeavours to operate better, faster and more efficiently, while offering customer excellence, determined us to go with this option,” he added.
As well as managing network operations for both Rometelecom and Cosmote, Ericsson will also assume responsibility for their operations support systems. Around 730 employees will join Ericsson’s global services organisation in order to facilitate this.
“Romania is a very important market for Ericsson, which is why the country hosts one of our four global service centres,” said Jean-Claude Geha, VP and head of managed services at the vendor. “This agreement will increase our knowledge of the Romanian market, and in turn we will help these operators improve network quality, overall quality of service and customer experience – thereby promoting end-user loyalty.”
Ericsson also houses global service centres in China, India and Mexico, which are designed to meet demand for managed services and network operation capabilities, while providing standardised service delivery globally.
