Swisscom CEO found dead in suspected suicide

Carsten Schloter, CEO of Swisscom, was found dead at his home this morning in Germany's Freiburg region.

Local police suspect his death is a result of suicide, but this has not yet been confirmed.

In a statement released today, the company said: “Out of consideration for the family no further details have been disclosed”.

Schloter was appointed CEO of Swisscom in 2006, and deputy CEO, Urs Schäppi, will take over management of the company until further notice.

“Directors, senior management and employees are deeply saddened and send to the family and relatives their condolences," said Hans Ueli Loosli, chairman of the board at Swisscom.
