EE expands 4G footprint in the UK

UK operator EE has announced a further expansion to its LTE footprint in the UK after adding 11 new locations across the country.

EE said customers will now have access to its 4G network in a total of 85 towns and cities across the UK, covering more than 55% of the population. As part of the upgrade, EE has rolled out 4G services in Aldershot, Basildon, Basingstoke, Bracknell, Hitchin, Horsham, Leatherhead, Letchworth, Stevenage, Warrington and Weston-super-Mare.

The company has said it aims to increase coverage to 98% of the population by the end of 2014, and outlined a number of specific target cities to launch services.

As part of its expansion, EE said it also aims to introduce faster 4G services in ten cities soon, with the technology expected to boost downlink speeds to 80Mpbs.
