Interoute partners with Symantec for security solutions

European operator Interoute has struck a partnership deal with Symantec to join the company’s cloud service provider programme.

The deal integrates Symantec’s services in security, backup and availability solutions with Interoute’s Managed Security Services cloud offering, and adds an additional layer of security into its cloud network.

European enterprises will now access a range of security products in the cloud, and organisations working with Interoute will be able to protect their information resources to mitigate constantly evolving security threats.

Through the partnership, Interoute is now able to offer email antivirus, antispam, image and content control, endpoint protection, instant messaging protection, email archiving and continuity from the Symantec cloud.

Research firm Gartner predicts, worldwide, the amount spent on security solutions will rise to $60 billion in 2012, as a result of targeted and sophisticated security threats.

It is thought the partnership is further designed to ensure enterprises work better to manage such threats, with hosted endpoint protection also designed to ensure different devices are updated from the moment they are connected to the internet.

“This partnership with Symantec is testament to our commitment to help enterprises across Europe protect their business assets from the increasingly intricate web of security threats,” said Jeff Finch, security services manager at Interoute.

Matthew Bruun, director, product specialist sales EMEA at Symantec.cloud, believes complete security solutions is becoming vital to protecting customers cope against the evolving security threat.

“Interoute has the proven technical and support skills in place to incorporate our cloud security services into its expansive cloud services portfolio and we look forward to a positive partnership that will significantly benefit our customers.”
