The move comes as NSN engages in an extensive global restructuring programme in order to focus upon its core mobile broadband equipment business.
Accenture will integrate NSN’s IPTV offering with its own software-based video solution, which is targeted at enterprises looking to launch over-the-top (OTT) TV and services.
“The combination of Nokia Siemens Networks’ IPTV assets with Accenture’s over-the-top TV software and capabilities, will deliver an exciting new combination of services to the global video industry,” said Marco Vernocchi, MD of the media & entertainment industry group at Accenture. “The scalable and flexible end solution we are creating will help video service providers dramatically change the way they approach content distribution while balancing costs.”
The company claims that the acquisition will enable it to provide end-to-end technology integration services to any vendor for any video platform and to help clients to provide end users with video content in any format, across any network and on any device.
As part of the transaction a total of 17 NSN employees will join Accenture.
No Belgacom related IPTV assets will be included in the transaction and NSN said that it was working closely with its smaller IPTV customers to find the best way forward on a case by case basis.
