Viva Bahrain claims country’s First LTE launch

The Saudi Telecoms Company’s (STC) Bahraini unit, Viva Bahrain, has launched what is claimed to be the country’s first 4G LTE network.

The network was launched on a small scale in Bahrain city centre, with coverage expected to be expanded in the coming months.

It is claimed that customers will be able to experience speeds of up to 100 Mbps on the LTE network and receive greater value for money from the service.

Viva CEO, Ulaiyan Al Wetaid said: “This is yet another example of Viva’s commitment in bringing to Bahrain the best and latest technologies in the world paired with the best rates and packages. Viva’s network has excelled in independent quality of service surveys by the TRA and we now take another step towards providing the best services for Bahrain.”

The company completed its rollout of DC-HSPA+ mobile services in November 2011 following a service launch in May.
