Huawei wins LTE deal with TDC

China’s Huawei has been awarded a six-year contract with Danish operator TDC for the deployment of its LTE network in Denmark.

Huawei beat TDC’s previous vendor Ericsson to the deal, worth €536 million ($717 million).

Earlier this week, Huawei estimated it would receive $2 billion in revenue from 4G LTE networks this year and the contract from TDC only secures Huawei’s position as a leader in the LTE field.

The agreement is designed to allow TDC to fulfil its LTE obligations much faster than required by its LTE licence.

TDC expects to cover the country’s most sparsely populated areas with 4G services by the end of 2015.

The deal is still subject to a number of security requirements and TDC has been in close contact with the Danish authorities to reach a conclusion.

In February this year, TDC partnered with NTT Communications to provide the company with capacity in the Nordic region.
