Modest growth anticipated in global PBX market in 2012

Infonetics Research anticipates modest growth in the global PBX market following a 0.6% decline in global revenue in Q1 2012 compared to the previous year.

The global PBX/KTS system market declined 4.6% to $2.06 billion in Q1 2012 from the previous quarter in 2011.

Competition in the enterprise telephony market has been fierce, with Cisco and Avaya remaining on top despite lower revenue in the first quarter. NEC and Siemens Enterprise were among the few vendors which managed to increase PBX revenue in the quarter.

Year-over-year sales of pure IP PBX systems are up almost 4% and Unified Communications sales were up 16%.

The Caribbean and Latin America region was found to be a particular highlight, up 18% from the first quarter the year before for combined TDM, hybrid IP and pure IP PBX revenue.
