NetIX embarks on US East Coast network upgrades

NetIX is to boost its global footprint through a series of network upgrades on the East Coast US, starting with the Equinix Ashburn Point of Presence (PoP).

As a global distributed platform for connectivity and peering services, NetIX said the move would replicate similar capabilities already available in Europe, where members can access any of the 66 on-net European locations through a single cross connect.

The announcement comes less than a month after a network upgrade was unveiled for Madrid, with NetIX confirming further announcements will be made over the coming weeks and months, “as network improvements are implemented”.

“We’re thrilled to be making Ashburn a real hub of connectivity for the NetIX network,” said Dean Belev, VP of services at NetIX.

“Over the coming months, we have exciting plans to connect some of our other major US on-net locations directly to Ashburn reducing latency whilst increasing productivity, and we can’t wait to start announcing them,” he added.

The statement from NetIX said the investment would benefit exiting members who can now add a new city to their network, and also Equinix Ashburn facility networks, which can now become NetIX members and enjoy access to more than 150 global locations and services.
