Masergy hires James Parker from Tata Communications to be CEO

Tata Communications’ chief customer officer James Parker has become CEO of cloud communications company Masergy.
He will success Chris MacFarland, who will become executive chairman and chief technology officer of the company.
Parker has been at Tata Communications’ London office since August 2016, after nearly five years at CenturyLink and 13 years at Microsoft.
He described Masergy Communications, which specialises in software-defined networks (SDNs) and network functions virtualisation (NFV) as “a visionary company with a vibrant culture at the forefront of innovation and unparalleled customer experience”, adding: “Given the increasing rate of change in technology, Masergy’s agile and secure solutions uniquely empower global enterprises to realise their digital ambitions.”
MacFarland said: “Our shared vision is for Masergy to become a $1 billion-plus revenue company by significantly outpacing our competition with rapid product innovation and the industry’s best customer experience.”
Berkshire Partners bought Masergy for an undisclosed sum in 2016, at which time the company said its revenues were over $250 million.
