stc Group and iBasis ink MoU to develop IoT in MENA

stc Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with iBasis to support the provision of global communications via Internet of Things (IoT) in Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The signing took place during Capacity Middle East event, and under the MoU, will enable stc to benefit from iBasis’ IoT capabilities, enabling IoT technology developers in Europe and America to expand into the region.

Together, stc Group and iBasis aim to create an environment that facilitates the growth of IoT technologies and offers IoT developers flexible communications services for rapid expansion.

At the same time, they will help boost economic growth and diversify investment opportunities in the region by increasing the contribution of IoT technologies.

In addition, the partnership will drive innovation and digital transformation to help evolve telecom services in the region to meet customers’ growing requirements, particularly in the development of the smart device industry.

It will further boost the development of new solutions and bolster IoT connectivity in MENA to cater to businesses’ growing needs, while reinforcing alliance and collaboration in creating a more interconnected and inclusive world for future IoT services through fostering digital innovation.

This MoU and stc Group’s significant investments in developing digital infrastructure, align with the Saudi Vision 2030 to propel digital transformation and position the Kingdom as a global digital hub, bridging the continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe.

In related news, October saw iBasis sign an exclusive agreement with Moov Africa Niger, a subsidiary of the Maroc Telecom Group, to implement its A2P messaging monetisation solution.
