Colt completes 600G wavelength trial in Japan
Colt Technology Services has successfully transported 600G wavelengths in a long-haul live network in Japan.
The live network trial was conducted between two Colt data centres using Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme coherent optics, delivering enhanced scalability, intelligence and programmability.
In addition, VIAVI Solutions’ ONA-1000A and MTS-6000A OSA-610 were used in the trial for testing combinations of 400G and 100G Ethernet client end-to-end bit error free traffic, and line side optical spectrum health analysis, respectively.

Cradlepoint partners Palo Alto Networks to deliver SASE
Cradlepoint has entered into a technology partnership with Palo Alto Networks to provide Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) functionality for enterprise Wireless WANs.
The new Cradlepoint NetCloud integration allows customers to connect its wireless edge routers to Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma Access cloud-based security platform, giving businesses both wireless reach and SASE security.
“The enterprise WAN no longer stops at the branch or is constrained to wired connections, and businesses need a unified edge security model that can go everywhere their WAN does,” said James Bristow, senior vice president of EMEA at Cradlepoint.
“This is the promise of cloud-native SASE technology, and Palo Alto and Cradlepoint are joining forces to deliver it simply and seamlessly for the Wireless WAN era.”
Zayo selects Ciena for 400G Wavelength Services
Zayo Group has deployed Ciena’s WaveLogicTM 5 Extreme (WL5e) technology between Dublin, Ireland and Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
“This deployment demonstrates Zayo’s commitment to adopting innovative technologies that allow us to provide customized, state-of-the art network solutions to our customers,” said Jesper Aagaard, managing director of Zayo Europe.
“This collaboration with Ciena enhances Zayo’s already extensive coverage throughout Europe and is an important step towards enabling 400G customer interface connectivity in the region.”
Using Ciena’s WL5e technology, Zayo can deliver multi-terabit capacity across its European network, enabling higher transmission rates, reduced cost per bit and optimised network performance.

Telenor unifies its IoT offering across the Nordics
Telenor Group is unifying its IoT offering across the Nordics and internationally.
Specifically, the news will combine Telenor’s Nordic IoT portfolio and the global Telenor Connexion portfolio under the brand Telenor IoT.
As such, Telenor IoT will be offered from all Telenor business channels in the Nordics, internationally by Telenor Connexion and through selected partners.
At the same time, a new operating model is being launched that will bring together 200 full time IoT specialists with Telenor acting as one united global IoT team with a uniform product portfolio and go-to-market strategy.

Ericsson launches 5G Core Policy Studio for 5G
Ericsson has launched a new network programmability tool, called 5G Core Policy Studio, to enable communications service providers (CSPs) to more easily capture 5G revenue.
The 5G Core Policy Studio handles the central management of all core network policies and is fully integrated with Ericsson’s dual mode 5G Core.
In addition, it is a central provisioning engine that works at the core of the network enabling access and control of all policies that manage different 5G and 4G services through one easy-to-use graphical user interface.
“Working at the core of 5G evolution, we see that 5G is a software game. Through our software, we make networks smarter because that in turn enables smart business. Smart networks are key for enabling communications service providers to offer customised services to consumers and enterprises,” said Monica Zethzon, head of solution area cloud packet core, Ericsson.

Ooredoo Kuwait extends Infovista partnership on 5G
Ooredoo Telecom has selected the Infovista radio planning portfolio to upgrade over 2500 sites across Kuwait.
The news extends an existing long-term partnership between the two, with Ooredoo having previously used the Infovista’s TEMS Network Testing Portfolio to help it optimise mobile network quality and application performance by measuring end user experience.
As part of the newly extended relationship, Ooredoo Kuwait is deploying the Infovista Planet solution as a single network-planning tool across its business, for collaboration, continuity, and efficiency.
“The Infovista Planet solution will support Ooredoo Kuwait across our 5G planning and deployment phase allowing us to reduce time to market along with optimizing our 5G site investment,” said Essa Haider, director network planning & design, Ooredoo Kuwait.

Andean Telecom Partners Perú picks Nokia for its network
Nokia has been selected by Andean Telecom Partners Perú (ATP Perú) to support the development of its fixed fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and mobile (small cells) access project in Peru.
The first indoor deployment is at the Aventura Mall in the northern city of Chiclayo, while the FTTH deployment will take place in the Barranco district of the capital city, Lima.
At Aventura Mall, Nokia will install its Small Cell AirScale Indoor (ASiR) system in public shopping areas. This includes the ASiR PicoRRH solution, which has multi-operator and multi-band support that will enable Peru’s operators to provide connectivity across their AWS/2600/1900 bands.
“Nokia’s solutions portfolio allows us to offer neutral host digital infrastructure aligned with our customers’ needs,” said Gilles Pons de Vier, general manager at Andrean Telecom Partners Perú.

Nokia will also provide its FTTH solutions in the Barranco district of Lima, using its GPON technology to provide seamless fibre connectivity for residential, corporate, and mobile backhaul use. The solution will allow ATP to offer an open access neutral fibre network, capable of hosting several tenants or communications service providers.
The Association of Telecommunication Operators in Cambodia launches
The Association of Telecommunication Operators in Cambodia (ATOC) officially launched on 25 March.
The new group aims to create a unified voice for between the country’s telecom sector and the Royal Government of Cambodia and the development of its telecoms industry.
Its four founding members include Smart Axiata, CamGSM, Viettel and South East Asia Telecom.
“ATOC has its main objectives and goals to be a representative of its members in dealing with other actors in the private and public sectors, sharing and exchanging ideas and information, updating laws and regulations, raising and voicing concerns of its members, and advising and supporting its members for its business operation in Cambodia, and to contribute to further development of telecommunication industry,” said the group in a statement.
According to ATOC president Ly Tayseng, the association will play a key role in developing the industry in a sustainable way, working with relevant stakeholders, government ministries, Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia as well as other institutions.
Telent goes live 5G Private Network services
Telent has launched 5G Private Network services and a test facility at Telent’s Warwickshire headquarters.
The fast and secure 5G Private Networks support a wide range of application uses, including automation in manufacturing and logistics, IoT, mission critical Push To Talk (PTT) and Push To Video (PTV) communications, Secure Scene Analytics for CCTV and drone management.
“The 5G Private Network project builds on our well-established history and expertise of designing, building, supporting and managing best-in-class mission critical networks. Private 5G networks offer the reliability of an ethernet connection with the flexibility of a wireless connection,” said Gerard Donohue, CTO of Telent’s Network Services division.

The construction of our test environment will allow both Telent, its partner community and clients to develop solutions and services to innovate new operating models fit for 21st Century business operations.”
MTG to buy gaming developer Ninja Kiwi for $186m
MTG, the Swedish e-sports and gaming company, is to acquire mobile games developer Ninja Kiwi for around 1.6 billion crowns ($186 million).
The transaction will include a payment of 1.2 billion crowns upfront to be followed by payments in instalments of 406 million crowns.
According to Reuters, MTG will raise 1.1 billion crowns from a share issue directed at Swedish and international institutional investors to finance the deal, while investment firm Atairos had agreed to cover around 50% to become a significant long term shareholder in the business.
“After completing the acquisition, MTG holds strong positions in the city building and strategy genres through InnoGames, mobile racing through Hutch, idle games through Kongregate and tower defence through Ninja Kiwi,” said the company in a statement.
