Ribbon names VP of sales for CALA region


Former Cisco and Inmarsat exec Julio Villafañe, has been appointed to head regional sales activities for Ribbon Communications Inc.

With more than 25 years of experience, Villafañe has led sales and business development efforts for such organisations as Motorola, Cisco, Harris, SES and Inmarsat, predominantly in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region. Complementing his business development experience, he has opened offices in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico and led the establishment of manufacturing facilities in Brazil.

“I am looking forward to leveraging my experience, relationships, and overall background to help Ribbon continue to build its brand awareness and growth in the region,” said Villafañe. “Ribbon is in a great position to capitalise on the numerous market opportunities the dynamic CALA region presents, and I am excited to be a part of the team.”

In his new role, Villafañe will be responsible for leading and driving Ribbon's revenue growth and business development efforts in the CALA region.

Villafañe’s appointment marks the start of what will no doubt be a busy H2 for Ribbon. Over recent months the organisation has launched a call validation solution to tackle robo-calls and appointed a new EVP and CFO to succeed Daryl E. Raiford.
