IoT solutions provider Sierra Wireless has appointed Samuel Cochrane as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective as of 6 May.

Cochrane is an experienced financial executive, he most recently served as a vice president of Motorola. Prior to that, he served as the CFO of Avigilon, which was acquired by Motorola in 2018.

“I’m very pleased to welcome him to the team,” said Kent Thexton, President and CEO of Sierra Wireless and to whom Cochrane will report to.

“Sam’s deep experience in driving process improvements and operational excellence while managing business transformation will be a significant asset for Sierra Wireless as we continue to expand our IoT solutions business.”

In addition, Cochrane articled with PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP and is a chartered accountant with an accompanying Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.

“I am excited to join the Sierra Wireless team and contribute to building the leading global IoT solutions company,” added Cochrane.

“Having participated in a successful transformation that integrated software with best-in-class hardware at Avigilon, I look forward to executing on the massive IoT opportunity ahead of us.”

Last month the company appointed Gregory Waters to its board of directors. Waters previously served on the board of directors for Mellanox Technologies.

Greg’s deep experience in business transformation in the semiconductor industry with IDT, Skyworks and Agere will be a great asset to Sierra Wireless as we continue our transformation to a solutions and services provider,” said Robin Abrams, board chair, Sierra Wireless.
