Seabras has also recruited Donald Shassian, a former CFO of Frontier Communications, to its board.
Crouch, a former executive at Level 3 Communications, joined Zayo in April 2017 as part of CEO Dan Caruso’s plan to refresh the management of the company. Caruso told Capacity early the following year that “we were going to have to rebuild a lot of our senior team” and Crouch’s appointment was one of a number.
But Crouch’s departure after only a year with Zayo was one of the factors cited by shareholder Starboard Value in March this year when it and others started calling for an acquisition. Since then Marc Ganzi’s Digital Colony and EQT agreed to buy Zayo for $14.3 billion. Other departures from Zayo have included Phil Mottram, who has joined HPE.
The other new appointment to Seabras, Donald Shassian, was CFO at Outfront Media and previously CFO at Frontier Communications. Shassian joined the Frontier in 2013 and was a major contributor to its successful IPO and split-off from CBS.
Larry Schwartz, chairman and CEO of Seaborn, said: “We are very pleased to have these industry leaders as part of the Seabras team, and look forward to their involvement.”
