H5 Data Centers and Archeo Futures are partnering to launch an internet exchange (IX) in San Antonio, Texas.

The new facility called SAT-IX, will sit at H5 Data Centers’ newly acquired 100 Taylor Street location it acquired last November. The 85,000 sqft edge data centre and carrier hotel is located in downtown San Antonio and offers colocation space with access to more than 25 communications carriers.

"The expansion of an Internet exchange platform to 100 Taylor Street strengthens our world-class data centre and interconnection offering, said Josh Simms, CEO of H5 Data Centers. “San Antonio plays a central role in long haul fibre routes from California to Texas and Mexico and such a partnership with Archeo Futurus is an excellent opportunity to create a vibrant peering community."

The newly launched affordable and neutral Internet exchange in San Antonio, will offer networks and content providers in the area and opportunity to reduce latency and transit costs. Archeo Futurus is a privately-owned cloud services and Internet exchange operator in the US.

"Starting an Internet exchange in San Antonio is a great opportunity for the companies to bring value to the region by offering an affordable and neutral Internet exchange platform," said Daniel Kluss, CEO of Archeo Futurus. "We look forward to partnering with H5 Data Centers to build a more efficient Internet in San Antonio."

In related news, Handy Networks expanded its data centre footprint at H5 Data Centres’ Denver Tech Center facility.

"In 2015, we entered into a long-term lease with H5 Data Centers at their Denver Tech Center facility," added Jay Sudowski, co-founder and CEO of Handy Networks. "H5 Data Centers has a track record that is simply remarkable. The data centre campus boasts impressive specifications and a top-tier operations team."

As a result of the expansion, H5 supports Handy Networks’ growth and in turn Handy Networks expands the products on offer to H5 Data Center customers at the Denver facility.

"Handy Networks offers a full suite of hybrid cloud hosting solutions for Denver enterprises and to entities across the world," said Simms. "H5 Data Centers can be a data centre infrastructure partner with Handy Networks as it scales and expands its footprint."
