BCE Nexxia announces new London PoP at Capacity Middle East

BCE Nexxia, the wholly owned Bell Canada subsidiary, has expanded its network capabilities with the launch of a new point of presence (PoP) in London.

The new London PoP provides direct, low latency connectivity between North America and Europe through Canada. The PoP has been launched at two interconnected locations, one at London Square and the other at Nutmeg Lane to deliver end-to-end diversity.

In addition, the new PoP offers direct connection from key Canadian cities including: Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver; US city hubs New York, Chicago, Ashburn and Seattle, and Europe. It also features a fully redundant North American route between London and Halifax, and access speeds of between 10Mbps and 10Gbps. On the customer service side of things BCE Nexxia offers a single point of contact for connectivity, data centre, professional services and network equipment.

BCE Nexxia’s new PoP provides the flexibility, scalability and resiliency its European-based business partners are demanding from their interconnection provider.

Capacity recently spoke to Ivan Mihaljevic, president of BCE Nexxia on the company’s network evolution towards virtualisation. Speaking on the company’s first London PoP which was deployed last year Mihaljevic said: “Our London PoP offers both network and geo diversity as well as super corridors connecting London to key Canadian cities such as Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, and into U.S. city hubs such as New York, Chicago, Seattle and Ashburn.”

Adding that BCE Nexxia expanded its Ethernet service with the launch of an alternative access point using microwave technology. “Our Ethernet over microwave will enable Bell to provide Ethernet services into remote regions of Canada, meeting the needs of customers wherever they operate in Canada,” said Mihaljevic.
