Dutch fibre carriers in three-month TelcoPlace wholesale trial

Fibre carriers in the Netherlands are trying out a search tool to find and buy wholesale connectivity from members of their trade association and from other carriers.

The Fibre Carriers’ Association (FCA) has set up a three-month pilot trial with TelcoPlace, a Rotterdam-based business-to-business marketplace.

“By using TelcoPlace, the FCA members are not only getting a search tool, but also reveal their services to carriers outside of the association and the Netherlands,” said the FCA.

After the three-month trial, the FCA will take “a final decision” on whether to partner with TelcoPlace.

TelcoPlace is an e-commerce platform that enables companies to trade telecommunication services independent of existing channels. It focuses on the wholesale telecom market, an alternative sales channel with low cost of sales and a wide global reach that is used by 60 operators and service providers worldwide.

TelcoPlace said it sells “telecommunication data services where demand is difficult to find or margins of profit do not encourage the high cost of sales”. It added that it preserves business partners’ anonymity.

“In a small market all big players know each other. We can preserve your anonymity when it is important to be anonymous. The parties only reveal themselves after agreement is reached on the product and price.”
