Andreas Hipp acquires Cataleya from Epsilon

A joint management group led by industry veteran Andreas Hipp has purchased Cataleya from Epsilon Global Communications.

Hipp, who co-founded Epsilon in 2003 and was a former CEO there and also at Cataleya until October 2015, led the group, which included a technology start-up, Incipio, and R&D and engineering specialists.

He becomes Cataleya’s chairman and CEO and will oversee its global operations. Hipp is focused on developing innovative intelligent networking solutions to become the industry leader in session border controller (SBC) technologies.

“Cataleya has an amazing opportunity to really disrupt the network infrastructure market and remove the barriers to adopting intelligent networking applications and services globally. Its award-winning technology has proven itself in markets from Afghanistan and Liberia to Europe and the USA. With the right commercial model, Cataleya will take its place as the industry leading SBC and accelerate the adoption of intelligent networking globally,” said Andreas Hipp, founder of Incipio.

Cataleya, which has deployed its next-generation SBC across five continents and supported operators’ IP networks, will be maintain its current facilities in Silicon Valley and Singapore, and is set to expand operations in Pune, India.

The timing was right to dedicate ourselves fully to innovating within our cloud-centric networking platform, and with Andreas and his team Cataleya is in very experienced hands. Cataleya’s Orchid One SBC will remain an important part of our suite of intelligent network solutions. We look forward to seeing it evolve as a standalone business.”

Over the coming months, the company says it’ll make announcements around features and functionalities related to network function virtualisation (NFV), cloud and unified communications as a service (UCaaS), machine learning-based fraud identification and mitigation capabilities.
