NJFX completes 65k sq ft Tier 3 colocation campus
The New Jersey Fiber Exchange (NJFX) has completed the third and final phase of its 64,800 sq ft ‘Tier 3 by the Subsea’ carrier-neutral colocation facility.
The completion of the Tier 3 subsea colocation campus, which links the US, Europe, South America and the Caribbean, coincides with NJFX’s powering of its first customer cage that uses the company’s 432 tie cable to provide ubiquitous connectivity across the NJFX campus and its cable landing station (CLS) Meet Me Room.
“2016 was an outstanding year for NJFX,” states Gil Santaliz, founder and chief executive officer of NJFX. “We launched the facility in September and since then have developed key strategic partnerships with a multitude of networks and successfully completed our data centre commissioning. As we head into 2017, we look forward to further developing our campus’ ecosystem, one of the most robust and diverse in the market.”
NJFX has seven US backhaul providers preparing to serve private fibre backhaul to cities across country, all while bypassing New York City and other legacy infrastructure.
Commenting on how NJFX will enable operators to have more control of their networks, Santaliz told Capacity just under one year ago: “As we provide unique, open routes, NJFX will generate an opportunity for operators to experience faster, more reliable and more effective means of connecting. By being nimble and taking advantage of new routes, we plan to offer enhanced international access to the places our customers want to go.”
The new data centre features mission critical infrastructure design with the capacity for over 1,000 cabinets for carrier-neutral colocation. It also provides greater capacity to address customers’ high-¬density power needs up to 20kW/cabinet. It has an annual design PUE of 1.35 and a "state-of-the-art" rooftop cooling system.
In November, NJFX announced at Capacity Europe that Tata Communications had opened its core network point of presence (PoP) at its campus enabling NJFX customers to have direct access to its subsea cable landing station for strategic, low latency connectivity to Europe and South America.
