Aqua Comms expands into 1025Connect carrier hotel

Aqua Comms has established a point of presence (PoP) at 1025Connect, the network interconnection and colocation facility situated in Long Island, New York.

The deployment at the network-neutral Meet-Me Room provides 1025Connect customers with a new US access point to leverage Aqua Comms’ suite of bandwidth and spectrum services.

The 6,800km AEConnect cable system between America and Europe was completed in January 2016, and coupled with its Irish Sea cable, will offer transatlantic capacity with protected terrestrial 10Gbps and 100Gbps routes. In July, CentyLink activated two 100G waves of high capacity connectivity on the cable system.

"This site on our ground-breaking cable system adds to our current strategic access points in Dublin, Slough, Manchester, London and New York metro markets," states Greg Varisco, chief executive officer of Aqua Comms. In May, Aqua Comms choose Telehouse to provide a European hub for AEConnect.

"We're proud to partner with 1025Connect, which offers fast cross-connects to other local and global cable systems in a critical subsea cable launching point.”

1025Connect is known for its ability to connect subsea systems to terrestrial networks with the optional ability to bypass Manhattan and Dan Lunde, managing director at 1025Connect, added: "This partnership is a natural one, as Aqua Comms' world-class network solutions require an industry-leading colocation facility in the business capital of the world.”

Last month, Aqua Comms selected Open Eir to provide data centre connectivity, as part of a €5 million deal
