C&W Networks deploys PoP at Cologix Florida data centre

Wholesale telecoms service provider C&W Networks has deployed a point of presence (PoP) in Cologix’s data centre in Jacksonville, Florida.

Through its deployment in Cologix’s Meet-Me-Room (JAX1), the Cable & Wireless Communications subsidiary can connect peers and customers to both their subsea and terrestrial networks.

Last year, C&W Networks announced it was a member of the Pacific and Caribbean Cable System (PCCS) operating a 3,700-mile subsea cable system with its landing in the US directly in Jacksonville. “PCCS is our fourth international submarine cable landing in the United States and our third in Florida,” stated Paul Scott, president of C&W Networks.

“The deployment through Cologix in Jacksonville enables us to offer even greater route diversity, redundancy and interconnection to our customers which further enables their business to expand and grow. The Cologix facility provides us an ideal exchange and peering platform that is strategically diverse from our established gateways in South Florida and the Caribbean.”

Cologix’s JAX1 facility offers connectivity to over 30 LECS, MSOs, backbone networks, regional fibre networks, long haul dark fibre network, ISPs, content providers and cloud service providers. It is also connected to its JAX2 enterprise grade data centre via a diverse dark fibre ring. The combined data centre platform provides networks direct access to the largest and growing set of enterprises in the region and significant space and power capacity for growth.

Graham Williams, chief operating officer of Cologix, added: “Jacksonville is gaining a reputation as one of the key peering and interconnection points in North America providing cross-border opportunities and diversity which are important in network design. We are very proud to be the central and only hub in the region connecting all of the subsea cables and major network providers to each other.”
