The agreement with BICS is said to enable an increase of approximately 10% in the number of countries where Telefónica’s LTE Diameter service is available.
“Through its leading IPX platform, BICS is facilitating a fast and easy roll-out of LTE, seamless 2G/3G/4G worldwide roaming experiences and interoperability with other networks,” said Telefonica.
Telefónica believes the partnership will provide an end-to-end quality of service (QoS) within a private IP environment.
In February 2016, the operator signed an IPX exchange alliance with TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) in a deal which included roaming services on Sigtran and Diameter signalling and IPX-based IP-payload services.
Telefónica’s IPX portfolio was awarded “Best IPX Exchange” at the Global Carrier Awards 2015 at Capacity Europe.
