US purportedly set to offer ZTE export relief

The US Department of Commerce is purportedly expected to lift its export ban on China's ZTE this week after alleged deals with sanctions-hit Iran.

A senior official at the US agency has reportedly told Reuters that relief will be temporary, maintained “only if ZTE is abiding by its commitments to the US government”, with further details to be announced this week.

The news comes after ZTE warned its shareholders to ‘exercise caution’ after the trade embargo was imposed earlier this month.
