HP in talks to acquire Aruba Networks?

Hewlett-Packard is said to be in talks to purchase Aruba Networks and a deal could be announced as early as next week, Bloomberg reports.

Talks between HP and with the Wifi network gear maker are still taking place and could yet fall through, people close to the matter said.

Hewlett-Packard announced in 2014 that it would split into two companies later this year, separating its computer and printer business from its corporate hardware and services operations.

The split is part of a restructuring plan, which has resulted in tens of thousands of job cuts in recent years.

Meg Whitman, CEO at HP, told reporters on Wednesday that the company is “now in a position where we can actually make acquisitions, which we couldn’t when we started”.

The company reported sales for the first quarter of $26.8 billion, a 5% decrease from the same period in the previous year.
