Mobily chairman exits role

The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Mobily has exited the company for health reasons, the operator said in a statement today.

Abdulaziz al-Saghyir’s resignation is with immediate effect, but he will remain on Mobily’s board, the company said.

Saghyir has been replaced by Suliman bin Abdulrahman al-Gwaiz, effective February 23 2015. Gwaiz is also chaiman of Banque Saudi Fransi and governor of state-owned fund, the General Organisation for Social Insurance.

In November last year, Mobily CEO Khalid Omar Al Kaftook was suspended following an auditing error, with Serkan Okandan stepping up as acting CEO.

Okandan said earlier this month that he will run the company until the end of March 2015.
