The move is said to support the migration of ICN’s interconnects from TDM to IP. It is hoped to help drive the growth of IPX-enabled networking in west Africa, providing local and regional mobile operators and fixed-line service providers with IP connectivity.
The companies completed a trial of the solution in May, which is now fully operational within ICN’s network infrastructure.
“With every trial and deployment, Cataleya is proving that it is not just another SBC product. It is catering to the needs of a range of service providers that have a common goal of delivering the highest possible quality of service and experience,” says Jay Jayasimha, chief technology innovation officer at Cataleya. “The scalability of Orchid One is ideal for a rapidly growing market like Nigeria and we are excited to help ICN deliver IPX-enabled networking in Africa’s largest telecoms market.”
ICN plans to extend its network across the continent, starting west, before move on to south, east and north Africa. Orchid One is said to support its expansion plans by proving the necessary SIP-based infrastructure for customers regardless of where they connect to the network from.
