SNAP to offer connections to Amazon Web Services

Internet exchange platform The Southeast Network Access Point (SNAP) has announced that it is now offering connections to Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) capabilities in northern Virginia.

SNAP will utilise its location within Colo Atl’s Atlanta facility, granting customers access to AWS cloud services through a private enterprise-grade network connection, which it claims can bypass the public internet.

SNAP members will also reportedly be able to experience the benefits, including reduced bandwidth costs, improved network security and better network performance.

The service can further be scaled to meet differing needs – either as a 1Gbps or 10Gbps connection – and can be made compatible with all AWS capabilities. This includes Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS).

“Through this partnership and coupled with the benefit of no monthly recurring cross-connect fees within the Colo Atl Meet Me Room, we are aligning with SNAP’s mission to meet both the vision and operational objectives of the global internet community” said Tim Kiser, co-founder of SNAP and founder of Colo Atl.

The SNAP exchange point is designed to offer neutral internet exchange services for ISPs, CSPs, academic networks, government networks or enterprise networks.
