DE-CIX New York expands its reach

German internet exchange DE-CIX has announced that its New York facility has gained 111 access points across Manhattan, New Jersey and Long Island in the US.

Since its launch in November last year – marking the entrance of DE-CIX into the US market – DE-CIX NY has been rapidly expanding in the metro market by securing dark fibre assets.

At the same time, the company announced that it has introduced the Apollon technology platform into the NY exchange as the foundation for its regional infrastructure. The Ethernet interconnection platform will provide secure and resilient connectivity to the NY exchange.

“In addition to metro fibre, we have also secured dark fibre riser assets in multi-tenant buildings and connected them to DE-CIX New York switching sites,” said Frank Orlowski, head of marketing at DE-CIX. “This expands our reach to 111 access points in seven facilities across the NY/NJ region – more than any other internet exchange in North America.”

99 out of the 111 access points are 100GE ready and the remaining access points will be upgraded in the near future, the company said.
