$22 billion on videoconferencing and telepresence over the next five years

Infonetics Research forecasts that $22 billion will be spent on videoconferencing and telepresence by enterprises between 2012 and 2016.


 


The global videoconferencing and telepresence market grew by 15% between Q3 and Q4 of 2011, reaching $882 million. For the full year, sales of telepresence equipment were up 34% to $2.99 billion.

Market leader Cisco’s videoconferencing and telepresence revenue for Q4 2011 grew 25% sequentially bringing its market share up three points to 52.5%. PBX-based systems had the strongest revenue growth in 2011 of 80%.

Over half of the enterprise videoconferencing equipment market was made up of dedicated multi-purpose room video systems, which is expected to continue to be the biggest revenue generator among enterprise video solutions.

The Caribbean and Latin America saw the strongest growth of all regions, where sales nearly doubled in 2011.
