IPTV and VoIP growth supporting Polish market

IPTV and VoIP are Poland’s fastest growing telecoms segments, according to Pyramid Research.

IPTV is growing at 28.4% CAGR and VoIP by 20%, due to the increased adoption of fixed broadband and aggressive bundling strategies in an attempt to counteract a diminished market.

Poland’s telecoms market as a whole decreased by 2% in 2009 in local currency terms, due to termination rates cuts and cost optimisation strategies across both the business and consumer markets in the face of economic slowdown. While the broadband market has remained resilient, both mobile and fixed voice revenue fell during 2009, diminishing by -0.9% and -4.6% respectively.

Despite the difficult conditions, the Polish telecoms market remains the second largest in the CEE behind Russia, generating $12 billion in 2009. The total market is predicted to grow at 1.7% CAGR for the next five years, with the total telecoms market rising to $14.7 billion in 2015.
