VIRTUS Data Centres has announced the further expansion of its West London campus in Slough, UK.

The company said the construction of its LONDON11 data centre will add more than 13MW of new capacity within 5,500m2 of net technical space to VIRTUS’ inventory in the location.

With the opening of LONDON11, the VIRTUS Slough campus will provide a total of over 77.5MW of power and 32,150m2 of net technical space to VIRTUS’ expanding customer base.

The data centre is set to go live in November 2022, with the facility offering flexible colocation provision to hyperscale and enterprise customers.

The addition of LONDON11 to the Slough campus increases VIRTUS’ total data centre estate to more than 178MW and 77,000 m2 across its UK locations; this includes the four data centres within VIRTUS’ Stockley Park Campus and makes VIRTUS Data Centres.

“The start of building LONDON11 is a significant milestone in a busy year for VIRTUS,” said Neil Cresswell, CEO of VIRTUS Data Centres.

“Throughout the COVID-19 epidemic our focus on operational excellence has enabled us to provide safe, reliable service to our valued customers, from our five live data centres, whilst also safely bringing two additional new data centres live in the past six months.

“An additional three sites are scheduled to go live in the next 12 months, followed by LONDON11 in 2022.

“We continue to see increasing demand for quality colocation at scale in the London data centre market - driven by remote working, accelerating digital transformation and Brexit, amongst other factors.

“We have worked hard in the last five years to provide this continuous runway of state-of-the-art, well-connected data centres - in key UK locations where there is a limited supply - stretching out years into the future, and with the backing of STT GDC, we will continue to support our customers as they scale and grow.”

The data centre will be the latest in VIRTUS’ portfolio of 11 UK data centres to be built, and the facilities are built to comply with both VIRTUS’ and the industry’s environmental commitments.
