Intracom Telecom has struck an agreement to supply terminals and hub site equipment to B2B wireless service provider Comsol Networks in South Africa.
The five-year deal will see solutions vendor Intracom provide its latest generation WiBAS-OSDR, a point-to-multipoint (PtMP) wireless system, alongside a network management system.
The total value of the agreement, which Intracom has now began implementing, is expected to reach $9 million.
John Tenidis, marketing director of Intracom Telecom's wireless solutions portfolio, said: "We are pleased to further enhance our long cooperation with Comsol, which started in 2011, excited to be part of their business success and ready to provide the South African enterprise customers with the highest quality of services and reliable connectivity.
“Our WiBAS-OSDR provides the highest capacity in the industry, the best radio technology for uninterrupted service and the widest set of networking functions to help Comsol satisfy its strict requirements."
Comsol selected the WiBAS-OSDR system at the 28GHz frequency band following an international tender process, which include technical evaluations and extensive field testing.
The system aims to offer superior access layer 2 last mile connectivity, and will be used to benefit Comsol’s corporate customer base in over 200 towns across South Africa, it claimed.
Darren Morgan, Comsol Networks chief operating officer, stated: "We selected Intracom Telecom's WiBAS-OSDR platform based on the technical superiority of the radio as well as the networking and management features of the solution.
