Israel awards 1800MHz band for 4G

13 January 2015 |

Israel has awarded 4G frequencies in the 1800MHz band following the announcement of results for the country’s frequency tender yesterday.

The tender committee awarded Pelephone Communications 15MHz, and Partner Communications, Golan Telecom, Hot Mobile and Marathon 018 were each awarded 5MHz. Cellcom Israel announced that it was awarded 3MHz in the 1800MHz band.

The price for the spectrum was approximately $1.6 million (NIS 6.4 million)  per 1MHz

The results of the tender require the approval of the Minister of Communications.

The operators are expected to use the frequencies to expand their LTE services. Cellcom Israel, Partner Communications and Pelephone all launched their LTE networks last year.
