Huawei and du trial LTE-A
01 August 2014 |
UAE-based operator du has completed a successful LTE-A field trial in partnership with China’s Huawei.
The trial was conducted between the 800MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands, and was designed to deliver greater speed, indoor coverage and reliability to mobile subscribers in the UAE.
Saleem Al Balooshi, EVP of network development at du, said that the company’s key aim is to deliver innovative and class-leading customer experience.
“Utilising the 800MHz band to provide 4G LTE mobile broadband services to the public is a pivotal technology vehicle we are planning to use to further enhance the user experience and significantly extend our state-of-the-art 4G LTE network coverage to a larger section of du customers,” Balooshi said.
Etisalat partnered with Alcatel-Lucent in April 2014, for what is expected to be the first LTE-A network in the UAE.
