Infinera to double Hetzner Online’s network capacity

Infinera has teamed with German data centre operator Hetzner Online to double its capacity through the use of Infinera’s ICE6 solution on Hetzner’s nationwide network.

The ICE6 solution enables speeds of up to 800Gbps and will modernise Hetzner’s networks, allowing the company to offer 400 GbE services and doubling its network capacity.

The partnership will make Hetzner Online the first German company to leverage the scalability of operating optical transmissions at 600Gbps.

Infinera’s ICE6 solution has pioneered key innovations that allow a high-level capacity transmission over significant distances including probabilistic constellation shaping and digital Nyquist subcarrier technology.

Smart building deployments to exceed 115 million by 2026

Smart building deployments will rise from 45 million to 115 million in 2026 according to a new study from Juniper Research.

The150% increase reflects increasing demand for energy efficiency from businesses and residents as energy costs spike.

Juniper defines a smart building as one that uses connectivity to enable economical use of resources while creating a safe and comfortable environment for occupants.

The new research found that by enabling buildings to monitor and automate common functions, significant efficiency gains can be made, while improving the environment for workers and residents.
