The news comes as Telenor continues to modernise the telecoms industry by digitalising and expanding its offerings beyond just connectivity. As the network becomes increasingly software-based, Telenor is exploring how to use Google Cloud’s expertise in data management, machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as the company’s infrastructure, to bring together the complimentary technologies to Telenor’s customers.

Specifically, the partnership will give Telenor greater flexibility to meet its technology objectives by firstly strengthening Telenor’s technology capabilities by looking into how Google Cloud’s services, global data centre network, and security capabilities can be used.
At the same time, both companies will aim to drive better customer experiences by using Google Cloud’s data, analytics and machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
Next, both companies will expand both horizontal and vertical services through joint go-to-market activities, creating new scalable revenue streams.

In the area of innovation, Telenor and Google Cloud will develop and enhance the capabilities of current and future products, develop new modern industry solutions and services, and drive cost efficiencies. This may include such next generation technologies as virtual network function and edge computing, focusing on IoT and 5G.
Lastly, the two will partner to support businesses, helping to get them online and providing access to support teams and next-generation solutions.
