If the telecoms and IT industry were a country it would be third behind the US and China in terms of sustainability, Colt CEO Keri Gilder told Capacity Europe last night in her welcome speech.

Gilder (pictured) welcomed delegates to the London event – the first live Capacity Europe since 2019 – by calling on people to continue with the spirit that they have shown since the pandemic started at the beginning of 2020.

“Let’s not lose that sense of community,” she told people at the welcome drinks party at the InterContinental Hotel at the O2, in North Greenwich, London. Colt Technology Services is the host sponsor of the event, which runs until Thursday.

“We have a responsibility as an industry when it comes to sustainability,” she added. “We did it for Covid. I know we can do it with climate change.”

Later today Ruth Welter of Colt will be joining colleagues from AT&T, STC, Telefónica and Hadaara Consulting, to discuss the wholesale industry’s commercial model. That panel starts at 2pm.
