Veon has added a new face to its leadership line-up after appointing Michael Schulz to the role of group chief people officer.

Schulz, brings more than 20 years of experience from multiple industries, and has previously worked for Puma Energy, where he led the company’s people and culture function, Petrofac and LafargeHolcim.

“Our people are our most valuable asset in executing VEON’s growth strategy”, said Veon CEO Kaan Terzioğlu.

“Michael Schulz, who joins our group executive team today, will be a tremendous resource in supporting VEON’s leadership in talent management and continuity across our operating companies and HQ operations,” Terzioğlu added.

As part of his role, Schulz will also sit on the group executive committee and will be appointed to the boards of directors of a number of the group’s operating companies. These include: Beeline, Jazz, Kyivstar, Izi and Toffee, among others.

Earlier this year, Ursula Burns resigned as chairman of Veon at the company’s AGM following three years with the group, and as Capacity reported, Sergi Herrero dropped his co-CEO role – held with Terzioğlu – and took on a position as a main board director.

In July, Veon exited Algeria by selling its 45.57% stake in Djezzy.
