Asian data centre player Big Data Exchange (BDx) has appointed a new executive to “strategically lead and execute operations”.

Jeremy Yew (pictured) was appointed global head of critical facilities at BDx in April and is now the SVP of data centre facilities and operations. He will take charge of strategically leading and executing operations for the firm’s portfolio of facilities in Asia.

He said: “Since the launch of BDx it’s been considered one of the top companies in the region to watch because of how quickly it's growing.

“I’m honoured to have been given the opportunity to expand my role at BDx and become a critical part of the value chain to meet the needs of our customers.  Adaptability is key, and being a fast-growing company coupled with trust from the management allows us to be very accommodating towards customer demands,” Yew continued.

Yew holds more than 15 years of experience in the data centre industry and has prior to joining BDx spent more than four years with ISS Facility Services, where he headed engineering and critical environment operations as well as major financial accounts.

BDx CEO Braham Singh, added: “As one of the fastest growing data centre companies in the Asia Pacific region, we need a knowledgeable person who can drive innovative solutions while maintaining the exceptional quality of service our customers count on.

“Jeremy is a driver. His vast experience in the industry and specific knowledge of the Asia Pacific region, paired with his performance during his time at BDx, will be an asset to customers and the BDx team in general.”

Yew’s appointment was announced as BDx prepared to open its first greenfield facility. Located in Nanjing, China, it is the operator’s first facility to be build “from the ground up” and a second facility is due to follow in early 2022.

BDx said Yew had been “instrumental” in sourcing and deploying strategies and equipment that will serve national and international customers in the Nanjing facility.

The company operates a further two facilities in Hong Kong, HKG1 and HKG2, one in Guangzhou, China, and one in Singapore, which was acquired earlier this year from Telstra.
