NTT has unified 28 international subsidiaries including Dimension Data and NTT Com into a single identity as from today.

Everything outside Japan will become part of NTT Ltd, a company based in London, while from today NTT Com will be used just inside Japan. The international operations will be integrated into a single business.

“They’ve been standalone businesses until now. We’re bringing them together,” Michael Wheeler (pictured), head of the group’s global IP network business, told Capacity. “We’re integrating all the different service offerings and sales organisations.”

The CEO of NTT Ltd will be Jason Goodall, currently group CEO of Dimension Data, who has been with the Dimension Data group since 2000, when he became COO of its Internet Solutions division in South Africa.

The integration “will take up to a couple of years, though some tasks will be over in a few months”, said Wheeler. “Legal and tax will take longest. This is the beginning of the end, but there’ll be some bumps along the road.”

But, “bringing everything together under the one brand will create opportunities that have been missed in the past. It’s not that products and services have been hiding – but there has been less coordination than there might have been,” he said. “Now there are ambitious plans around product development. These kinds of benefits are part of the process of integration.”

Brand names such as Dimension Data, NTT Security and others will all disappear over time, confirmed Wheeler.

Goodall said the company is “a global technology services provider that delivers a full breadth of industry-leading products, solutions and managed services that address our clients’ business needs”.
