Telin and Viettel sign MoU in Bali

PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) and Viettel Business Solution Corporation (Viettel) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on telecoms projects.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on both legacy business and digital services. Specifically, the legacy business between Telin and Viettel will include traffic, signalling, SMS and roaming whilst the digital services part will include smart city and smart education. 

As a result of the partnership, the two companies will share capabilities across Indonesia and Vietnam, underscored by similar cultures and potential business opportunities.

The signing took place during the ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (TELMIN) and the ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Senior Officials Meeting (TELSOM) in Bali, which are organised by the Ministry of Communication and Information Indonesia (KOMINFO).

Signatories on behalf of each company included Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi, CEO of Telin and Phun Van Cuong, CEO of Viettel Business Solution Corporation. H.E. Rudiantara, Indonesia’s minister of communication & information and H.E. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vietnam’s minister of information & communication, witnessed the signing.

In addition, Abdus Somad Arief, CEO of wholesale & international business at Telkom Indonesia, Hoang Son, deputy chair at Viettel Group and Nicholas Soo, EVP of voice and mobility sales at Telin.

According to both companies, one of the initiatives that arose from the collaboration is a submarine cable that is set to boost corporate revenues in 2019.

Earlier this year Telin launched a new data centre in Hong Kong. The neuCentrIX HK-1 is located at Itech Tower 2, and was opened during a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Abdus Somad Arief, director of carrier & international business at PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International and Faizal Djoemadi CEO of Telin.

Speaking at the opening, Djoemadi said: "We established neuCentrIX with such designed capacity to provide colocation and hosting services to small and big enterprises in APAC and Greater China regions."
