Netherlands dark fibre network Relined has expanded into Germany and is planning interconnections to Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Relined, based about 40km south of Amsterdam, already has a metro network in Frankfurt, but it has linked with an unnamed Germany provider to give its customers access to 14,500km of fibre across the country.

“Relined’s activities in Germany mean that it is the sole party to offer nationwide coverage in both countries,” said the company. “The decision to expand into Germany was triggered by the growing need for connectivity. In order to be able to offer both nationwide and cross-border coverage, Relined is continually investing in the expansion of its network by means of national and international partnerships and acquisitions.”

The company can provide nationwide dark fibre connections between various city centres. “In those cases where Relined has no presence in respect of local and regional terminal points, a partnership that suits the desired business case is sought,” said the company. “In this way, the one-stop shopping that Relined offers provides nationwide, cross-border coverage via reliable connections.”

The combined network in the Netherlands and Germany totals 28,500km, and it provides access to networks in the neighbouring countries of Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Austria. The company has a subsea cable connection to Denmark.
