PEACE cable enters the cable and material manufacturing stage


PEACE Cable International Network in collaboration with Huawei Marine Networks has announced that its PEACE cable project has begun in cable and material manufacturing stage.

The 12,000km cable will connect Asia, Africa and Europe and is due for completion in Q1 of 2020. Once completed the 200G, 16Tbps per fibre pair cable system will offer the shortest routes from China to Europe and Africa, creating a new and diverse route and lowering latency.

“PEACE cable has created a new business model in the submarine cable industry that builds a bridge for these regions communications and provides connectivity opportunities to players all along the route by investing in the branches and gaining bandwidth on the trunk in a more efficient way,” said Sun Xiaohua, chief operating officer of PEACE cable.

In addition, the system’s open access and carrier neutral data centres will have a big impact in the countries connected to the cable system. PEACE cable has signed cooperation agreements to land the network in Somalia and Seychelles to boost local network service quality in both nations.


“We are glad to work with this creative network, which is open to connect along the route on any of the potential points, however with the commerce of cable manufacture, such extensions are dependent on the plan of work. Players who get on board soon will secure better flexibility on this network,” said Zhang Hongxiang, project delivery director of Huawei Marine.

Back in August, PEACE Cable International Network signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and landing party agreement with Pakistan network service provider Cybernet and Djibouti Telecom.

The company says that the remaining landing party agreements will be signed over the next two weeks, representing a key milestone in the delivery plan, which includes the permit application work in each country. All parties are backing an “open system” concept to create an efficient way for improved latency, high-capacity, and carrier-neutral bandwidth services for regional customers.
