Gary Donnan joins Eutelsat as CIO

Eutelsat has named former Alcatel man Gary Donnan as its new chief innovation officer, reporting directly into CEO Rodolphe Belmer.

The new role will see Donnan tasked with developing the Paris-based satellite company’s innovation roadmap, as well as identifying cross-group initiatives aimed at driving innovative new policies.

Donnan joins Eutelsat from Technicolour, where he spent 11 years across several positions. Whilst there, Donnan conducted a number of large-scale transformation projects, operating in the fields of technology, innovation and research.

Technicolour is a French multinational corporation that provides services and products for the communication, media and entertainment industries. Donnan served on its executive committee and his roles included EVP for research and innovation.

Prior to his time with Technicolour, Donnan held a number of positions at French telecoms vendor Alcatel. His worked across several fields, including research and development for the deployment of fibre, cable, radio and satellite networks.
